Bio A social work background and has worked in a variety of settings in the voluntary and statutory sector, including Dudley Social Services, Sandwell Social Services, Save the Children Fund and the NSPCC. Joined Northern Birmingham Mental Health Trust in 1999 as the Asian Services Development Manager. The service developed gained national recognition and was awarded the NHS Equality Award, the Heath and Social Care Awards and the Health Service Journal Award. Moved from this post to take up a role as a Locality Director for the Trust prior to the creation of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust in 2003 when appointed as Director of Diversity. The work led by the team was awarded the Strategic Health Authority Celebrating the Best Award for race equality in 2006. Currently the Head of Community Engagement and Inclusion for Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. In 2018 was recognised for work in championing and delivering mental health first aid.
