Permjeet Dhoot – Contributing towards improving health inequalities for the most vulnerable in our society

I am nominating Permjeet Dhoot for this Award, as I believe that Permjeet is an amazing leader, who for over 20 years has worked across the NHS and local government to improve how public health works to engage effectively with the diverse communities it services.

Permjeet is an amazing champion for race equality in mental health care and areas such as working to ensure the voice of those groups facing the starkest of health inequalities in our society are heard, represented and engaged through co-design and co-production.

Permjeet is a National Project Co-ordinator in the NHS England Equality and Health Inequalities Team, where she leads on a range of innovative areas of work on addressing health inequalities, ensuring the NHS drives change through partnership working with LGA and Public Health England.  Permjeet is passionate about working with diverse patient groups, through her innovative work with the Greater Manchester NHS Values Group.  Permjeet has a background in public health, working regeneration programmes, out of hours services and has an extensive portfolio of academic research in ethnicity and public health policy.
