What are the Windrush 70 awards?

Over the last 70 years the NHS has relied on talent and workforce from around the world to make it work. The Windrush 70 awards will celebrate the contributions of black and minority ethnic (BME) contributions to the NHS, from the Windrush generation of 1948, the south Asian arrivals in the 1960s and 70s, to today’s 202 nationalities represented in the workforce. It is a thank you to those who have gone before us, remember the pioneers that trod this path, recognise the present and a look to the future. The various categories recognise a range of achievements, breakthroughs as well as unsung heroes, who under normal circumstances, would perhaps be overlooked. Below are 11 categories for which over 300 people have been nominated. Nominations closed on Friday 27 April. Until Friday 11 May, you can support the nominations by clicking the 'thumbs up' button. Please note you cannot vote for someone you nominated. Nominations have now been shortlisted. we recommend you use Google Chrome or Firefox. Some old Internet Explorer versions do not support the platform.
